CERT Membership

Dates: October 25, 26, 27, 2007

The Volunteer Center needs volunteers to sort tee shirts, Whole Foods bags and a small item of two – all of which will be given to participants on Community Service Day – and distribute these items to the Community Service Day project locations.  The project locations include most Montgomery County Regional Service Centers and a variety of nonprofits around the county.  Presently, there are 50 projects listed for Community Service Day.   We will need the volunteers to sort and deliver on Thursday, October 25th and the early part of Friday, October 26, and Saturday, October 27, 2007.

We estimate that we will need 6-7 volunteers for each day.  However, if more answer the call, let us know.  We might have other tasks just prior to CSD that could use volunteers.

Thank you in advance for your help!

To volunteer or for additional info,

contact Marci Greenstein or Capt. Ty DeMent

Montgomery Amateur Radio Club's FIELD DAY

CERT members are invited to visit the Montgomery Amateur Radio Club's FIELD DAY site at Montgomery College/Germantown Campus on Saturday through Sunday June 23 - 24, 2007.

Event starts at 2:00 PM local time Sat until 2:00 PM local time Sunday

Montgomery Amateur Radio Club will be participating in Amateur Radio's nation wide FIELD DAY exercise on Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 PM through 2:00 PM Sunday.  Setup will begin Saturday morning several hours prior to the actual 2:00 PM start of the event.

Non-Hams could "Get On the Air" (GOTA) with the club call under the supervision of a GENERAL or EXTRA class control operator at the site.  This would allow them to make a contest contact or speak with another station who was not solely interested in making contacts.  This is Amateur Radio's way of introducing itself to the general public.
This is an excellent opportunity to see, discuss and actually operate amateur radio equipment.

See the url below for a PDF file with a map and exact directions to the site.
